'I came up with the
idea of ‘Write to Rachel’ when one of my students went away for a month.
We agreed that instead of lessons, we’d write to each other at least once a week. As it turned out, we both really enjoyed it. We looked forward to each other’s messages and wrote back as soon as we could. We exchanged some useful advice on April Fool’s Day tricks and had fun comparing our experiences. Because my student had something he wanted to communicate, he took the trouble to make his writing coherent. We could see the improvement. ’ Rachel |
Rachel graduated with an MA in English from Somerville College, Oxford University, and continued her post-graduate studies with a PGCE, specialising in Primary Education.
She has taught at leading schools in London and New York, and now works as a tutor teaching English and Latin to children aged between four and fifteen.
Rachel and her husband have five grown-up children who attended leading universities in the UK, USA, China and Germany, and are variously employed in law, journalism, hospitality, advertising and theatre.
